Teeth in a Day Provide Immediate Dental Function
Thanks to modern innovations in dentistry, it is now easier and more convenient than ever to receive dental implants and implant-supported dental restorations. If you have a sufficient amount of jawbone tissue, you may be able to receive teeth in a day at our Oak Ridge, TN, and Crossville, TN, practice. One of our experienced surgeons will place your implants, carefully positioning them to maximize the strongest areas of your bone. With same-day implants, you can go home wearing a temporary dental prosthetic.
What Are Teeth in a Day?
We typically use teeth in a day to support dentures, but we can also provide same-day crowns and bridges. Our team of surgeons will collaborate with you, your primary dentist, and a dental lab to ensure optimal results. After your surgery, we can attach a temporary restoration. Though intended for the short-term, it will look very realistic, and it will restore most of your oral function. It is important to understand that as you heal, you will need to exercise some caution, avoiding foods that are difficult to chew. Once you have healed completely, your family dentist will attach your permanent denture. At this point, you will not typically have any dietary restrictions.

What to Expect When You Receive Same-Day Dentures
One of our surgeons will first determine your candidacy for teeth-in-a-day using our CT cone beam scanner. The 3-D images will reveal signs of bone recession, which can affect your candidacy. In some cases, a bone graft can restore your ability to receive same-day implants. Using SIMPLANT® software, your surgeon will then create a surgical guide for extremely precise implant placement.
Your surgery will take place at a special facility set aside specifically for teeth-in-a-day cases. Because it is a longer procedure than other implant surgeries, we have a comfortably furnished lounge where your driver and family members can relax.
To form a strong base for your immediate denture, your surgeon will place four mini implant posts. Often, the implants will be placed at a slight angle. This position can provide additional support without affecting a large portion of your jawbone. The tops of the implant posts will remain above your gum line, so we can attach a custom-made denture right after your surgery. In most cases, it will take about four to six months for your bone to heal fully. Once the jaw and implant have completely integrated, your family dentist will provide your permanent restoration.
Are You a Candidate for Teeth-in-a-Day?
To qualify for same-day dental implants, you should have enough jawbone tissue to support the posts. As with all implant surgery, you should be in good oral and physical health. You should not have any serious health conditions, such as an autoimmune disorder, that could impact healing.
